Day 1 Arrival in Windhoek, overnight in a pension/guest house in the centre of Windhoek. After a sight seeing tour through the city, while enjoying a sun downer drink on Heinitzburg Castle, the tour can be discussed in detail (accommodation). Day 2 Heading west, the tour goes via small villages Okahandja, Karibib and Usakos into the Namib Desert, to the Spitzkoppe Mountain. Here small walking trails can be undertaken (Camping). Day 3 A further island mountain in the desert is the Brandberg, which carries the highest peak of Namibia, the Königstein at 2579 m. Here we are already in Damaraland, once homeland to the Damara community, who still today travel with donkey carts through the country side, astonishing visitors every time with their language, containing various click sounds (Camping). Day 4+5 Our journey takes us further into Damaraland, where we will make use of our four wheel drive. Through dry river beds and stones we reach areas where elephants and rhinos still roam about freely. Other animals, like antelopes, ostrich and jackal are also residents of this area (Camping). Day 6+7 Through unique landscapes and plains, gorges, travelling past live spending springs, we reach “Twyfelfontein” (spring of doubt). About 1000 years ago the Bushmen people left behind their tracks. We visit some of the ancient rock engravings and paintings in this area, the organ pipes, a unique rock formation, and the burned mountain (Camping). Day 8+9 After a visit to the petrified forest we reach a valley, where once a huge river left behind its tracks. Like castles, the conglomerate ruins stand proud in this landscape. The trip goes further, passing through Mopane forests, to the Etosha National Park. On extensive game drives we can view the abundant wild life. At the waterholes, illuminated at night, we can observe elephants, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and with some luck even lions (Bungalow). Day 10 In Windhoek we overnight in a cosy guest house, experiencing the trip once more, through our minds, before travelling home the next day (Accommodation). Day 11 Your tour guide will accompany you to the airport - departure flight. Hotel/Lodge Tour “Champagne & Caviar” Day 1 Arrival in Windhoek. Overnight in Hotel Heinitzburg, or similar. After a sightseeing tour through the city, while enjoying coffee/cake or a sun downer drink, the forthcoming tour can be discussed in detail. Day 2+3 Due south, we dive from the high plateau into the Namib desert. In between the highest dunes of the world we will experience a unique piece of art: the sun brushing gently over the dunes, giving them a glorious shine of red and orange colour. Overnight at the Desert Home Stead Lodge o.s. B & B Day 4+5 On the way to Swakopmund, a coastal town of Namibia, we will experience the different faces of the desert. Sand, stones or clay desert exchanging places. Nevertheless oryx antelopes, ostriches and the living fossil plant, the “Welwitschia mirabilis” are living in this harsh environment. In the lagoon of Walfishbay we experience a close encounter with dolphins, during a boat cruise. While enjoying fresh oysters and champagne, seals are showing off their acrobatic skills. The afternoon is for leisure and sight seeing in Swakopmund. Overnight at the Hansa Hotel. B & B Day 6+7 Along the coast line, the trip goes north to a seal colony. Here at Cape Cross the first European, “Diego Cao” set foot on African soil and put up a cross in honour of the Portuguese government. Now we travel land inwards, into Damaraland, where elephants still roam about freely. Many hundreds of years ago this area served as hunting ground to the indigenous bush men. Their paintings and engravings can still be seen today at “Twyfelfontein” (spring of doubt), near the organ pipes, a unique rock formation, and the burned mountain. Overnight in the rustic Twyfelfontein Lodge. DBB Day 8+9 We reach the Petrified Forest and the Ugab terraces. Once a gigantic river, it formed, in its prime time, these magnificent castles, which we today admire as conglomerate ruins. In the afternoon we finally reach the Etosha National Park. Overnight at a luxurious Lodges. On game drives in the Ongava Reserve and Etosha Park we can observe the abundant wild life, such as elephants, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and with some luck even lions. DBB Day 10 Ending our journey we experience the traditional „Ovambo Stil" build Lodge. We track Rhinos and the wildlife by vehicle and on foot. DBB Day 11 After the morning activities we depart to Windhoek and Transfer in the afternoon to the airport. Self
drive Tour “On the Road” Day 1 Arrival in Windhoek, the car rental firm will greet you at the airport, bringing you to the city of Windhoek, where the formalities of the rented vehicle will be settled. Afterwards you can settle in at the Okapuka guest farm only a few km outside Windhoek. During the afternoon you will encounter rhinos and lions during a game drive. (Dinner & Breakfast). Day 2+3 With your itinerary and map you can easily find your way around Windhoek/Namibia, and so your trip starts to the north to the Etosha National Park. Overnight only 10 km outside the Park at Etosha Safari Camp. During a game drive in Etosha park you can view the abundant wild live at the different waterholes, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, lions, cheetahs, leopards and many more (Dinner & Breakfast). Day 4 Through Mopane savannah the road leads to Damaraland. En route you can visit the unique sandstone formations of the Ugab terrace, the "Vingerklip" and the Petrified Forest, before reaching your accommodation - the rustic Twyfelfontein Lodge. You can enjoy a dip in the pool, or undertake an excursion to the rock engravings at Twyfelfontein, the organ pipes and burned mountain (Breakfast). Day 5+6 Slowly the landscape gets scanty; one notices, that the desert is making its appearance. On the way the seal colony is visited, before travelling further along the coast line to the coastal town of Swakopmund. In Walvisbay you can enjoy delicious fresh oysters and champagne, while dolphins and seals accompany you on a morning boat cruise (included). Swakopmund presents a seldom charm, characterised by old buildings from the German colonial era, combined with African art and modern business trends. Overnight at the Orange guest house in Swakopmund (Breakfast). Optional activities: Scenic flight over the notorious skeleton coast – giving you a bird’s eye view over the salt fields, the Swakop River and unique moon landscape and some ship wrecks along the never-ending coastal line. For the more adventurous traveller a guided Quad-bike tour in the dunes near Swakopmund gives a good adrenalin-kick. Day 7+8 On the way to the highest dunes of the world and the "valley of death" in the Sossusvlei, you can visit the moon landscape and the indigenous plant, which only grows in the Namib desert, the Welwitschia mirabilis. On the guest farm, Desert Homestead, you will be warmly welcomed and experience the hospitality of your hosts (Breakfast). Before sun rise you should already be on the road, reaching the Sesriem gate immediately at opening time for entering the park, to experience the unique sun rise, playing a magnificent colouring game with the Sossusvlei dunes. On request your host will provide you with breakfast and lunch packets. Day 9 Experience the opposite of the Namib Desert at Kalahari Anib Lodge on the edge of the Kalahari Desert. In the afternoon you will enjoy a game drive (included) in the red dune scenery. A sun downer drink is served, while you enjoy the intoxicating beauty, the irresistible lure of the Kalahari desert at sunset. (Dinner & Breakfast). Day 10 In Windhoek you will overnight at the comfortable Hotel/Pension Palmquell (Breakfast). Day 11 Return of rented vehicle and Transfer to Airport for departure flight.
